I’ve come to the conclusion that it would be much less painful to be eaten alive by zombies than actually having to run for my life…

(via danielleleannepye)

Ok, so every time my friends (which are all guys) and I talk about the zombie apocalypse they say I'd be the first to die. This is probably because I'm a 16 year old girly girl. Now, I've argued the fact that I have speed, but then they find a way to cast me out of the group. I NEED TO FIND HOW I CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THE GROUP!!! but how? =(

Good question!  First, we believe you can survive the zombie apocalypse if YOU believe you can survive.

But gang, help her out!  Survive Z-Day!

My house is at the bottom of a hill and surrounded by bushes so it's totally not a good place to stay during the zombie attack. My brother collects weapons which would be good if I knew how to use them but they all require skill like nunchucks, tonfa, 3-section-bow-staffs and ninja throwing stars. He does also collect knives but I don't want to get that close to fight zombies off with a dagger because it's too risky. Even so, I would put all his weaponry, food from my house and other supplies into my dads car with the rest of my family, and we would drive out to the wops of Auckland to give us time to think of a legit plan while the zombies are eating the rest of the Jafas. But I think one of the most important things is to have friends, or just people other than family, with us because if we were to repopulate the earth, heck no am I doing incest.

We’re very glad that even a zombie apocalypse will not turn you to incest.  We are now significantly more confident in the intelligence of our followers.

We will survive

This is where we take shelter against Zombies.

The ultimate home

We have this idea to begin renovating an old deserted nuclear bomb silo that has been built underground. First of all we are going to have to locate one and find sufficient funding in order to begin our renovations. As we are sure a Zombie apocalypse is going to happen we have no problem with combining all of our scholarship money towards renovations and other objects and items that must be purchased for survival.

Firstly we begin by building a dummy house that looks inhabited  but will not be used. So the cheapest materials can be used to build it. Then we install exits and entrances.

Then we ensure that the actual underground shelter is completely sealed, especially the top and the tunnels leading down from the ‘dummy’ house into the actual shelter. All entrances and exits will be sealed with blast proof doors, which if unable  to be purchased will be created by welding several thick sheets of titanium together. Ideally the doors will be created to withstand pressure blasts up to 100 pounds per square foot. The doors to enter the shelter will be installed under the hardwood flooring of the dummy home. Through the insertion of a small knife between a crack in the floorboards (We doubt a zombie would have sufficient knowledge and understanding to attempt this.) the pressure (by using pressure valves no electricity is required) holding the door in place shall be released and the door will rise two inches in order for us to be able to slide it open. Hardwood will be laid across the door to ensure that the door is able to blend seamlessly with the rest of the flooring, once it is closed off course. The outdoor exits will be built in a similar manner but instead of having hardwood laid across them one will have the runway lying across it, and the other grass.

To enter the shelter one must pass through a series of 4 blast proof doors which are easily sealed from the inside by spinning the wheel to lock them in place.  Once the shelter is entered you will come across the living quarters. There we will have TV, radio, beds, exercise equipment, a weapons room (Filled with many primary weapons, bombs, secondary weapons, hand guns, and even knives and swords, as well as bullets… A LOT of bullets), a training room where we will train to fight and kill zombies on a daily basis, and a science lab will be located in a secure part of the shelter in order to aid in finding a cure.

In the section of the shelter where the atomic bomb was stored you will be able to find an electricity generator that will use solar panels set up in the tops of trees in the forest to generate electricity, as well as a water tank and filtering system. Which will initially store enough water to last for 6 months, and will collect rainwater from a fake tree built in the forest, just for this purpose. If our budget allows we will build a few of these trees. The trees will blend into their natural environment as they will be evergreens, that way leaves don’t need to fall off during the winter. They will be movable so that the wind can rustle their leaves. Thus, no zombie will be able to detect them.

In another section of the old silo a room will be found with fruits and vegetables growing under UV lights. These will provide us with our food. As for protein, which is required to survive, we will go out hunting occasionally but will ensure to initially have a lot of frozen meets to last at least 2 years. Just incase we run out of meats as a protein source we will stock up on protein shakes. We will also stock up on plenty of other vitamins and medicine.

Above ground you will be able to find 2 small fighter jets, each able to hold 3 people, hidden in a sealed barn as well as an all terrain large vehicle equipped with zombie fighting equipment and motorcycles built in much the same manner. These will be used as forms of quick getaway. In case of emergencies we will also have weapons, armour, and light backpacks filled with the essentials at the ready.

Oh, and an elaborate surveillance system involving cameras and  movement/heat sensors will be set up to ensure our awareness of Zombies that might decide to walk over our location.

We have faith that we will be able to save ourselves by living in this well protected shelter until we are  able to find a cure, or contact survivors who are creating a colony.

What educational training video do you think is the best for preparing for the zombie apocalypse?
Do you think Dawn of the Dead has good, accurate advice?

How to Survive a Zombie Attack

Submission via @KatyZack & HowCast

Army of zombies on the loose? Check out these simple steps to help you survive an encounter with the undead.

You Will Need

  • Appropriate clothing
  • Weapons
  • Secure location
  • Canned goods and bottled water
  • Human-scented objects
  • Lack of mercy
How to Survive a Zombie Attack: Know your enemy

Step 1: Know your enemy

Make sure you’re facing an attack from actual zombies. Look for a stiff gait caused by rigor mortis, open wounds from decomposing flesh, and a hunger for human flesh.

How to Survive a Zombie Attack: Cover up

Step 2: Cover up

Cover up to prevent potential zombie bites from turning you into one of them. Wear a mask with holes only for the eyes and mouth, long sleeves, gloves, close-toe shoes, and long pants tucked into your socks. You may look like a fashion victim, but you won’t be a zombie victim.

How to Survive a Zombie Attack: Amass weapons

Step 3: Amass weapons

Find a weapon to use in case you encounter a zombie. Grab a blunt object capable of bashing in undead heads or something to pierce the zombies’ skulls — even reanimated corpses can’t survive severe brain injuries.

Don’t try to reason with zombies — their brain functions are limited to walking, moaning, and feasting on the living.

How to Survive a Zombie Attack: Head indoors

Step 4: Head indoors

Find a secure place to hide. Make sure it’s located as far as possible from any graveyards and stocked with canned goods, bottled water, and projectile-firing weapons. Barricade the doors and windows to ensure your survival.

How to Survive a Zombie Attack: Fight back

Step 5: Fight back

Hide out long enough to overcome your fear; then, attack back! Use human-scented objects to lure the zombies to low-lying areas; once they’re contained, blast their brains from afar. Continue trapping and killing until all the zombies are dead, and it’s eerily quiet enough for you to hear your still-beating heart.

A traditional zombie cocktail is made with sugar, fruit juice, and 4 kinds of rum.

Hi, I was just thinking about tactics for the zombie apocolypse and I was wondering whether it would be better to fight or live it out. I think I cry everytime I think about Dawn of the Dead because, well, I think it would have been better if they just stayed in the shopping mall. Zombies surely must eat for a reason. Would they die from malnutrition if everyone just kept away from them? but then again going to a military base would seem like the most kick ass option but then again. You'd need food to live for a long time but then again you have to stay on the move and an army tank would be best for that
I'm so confused. What's your thoughts?

Very good question indeed.  Here’s our take:  while living out The Inevitable Zombie Apocalypse in some secure location is tempting, we assert that simply remaining ‘alive’ is not really living.  Part of human nature is to fight back against oppression and to that end we would always opt to fight back.

But what about you guys: live out or fight back in The Inevitable Zombie Apocalypse?
