It depends on if they're the classical undead or viral reanimated zombie. The difference is that most viral zombies depicted in media are people who die because of the virus then come back after a few hours. When they come back, the body is usually up and running again. In the case of 28 Days Later, they have a working cardiovascular system. Muscles need oxygen in order to sustain a running pace. Not only that, the eventual athrophy of being undead would mean that as they run, zombies would thrash themselves apart. /randomt rant

We think ALL running zombies are terrifying.
I don't know if anyone has asked this yet because I just started following but how to you feel about running zombies?
rigamortis sets in 4-6 hours after death...so, for a few hours i think running zombies might be possible.

That’s a good question, and one that is difficult to answer. Now, we’re all about being purist with the zombie cannon: zombies are dumb, slow-walking, flesh eaters a la Night of the Living Dead. However, the zombies in ‘28 Days Later’ and the ‘Dawn of the Dead’ remake were undeniably terrifying. So, our verdict is that as long as the zombies are zombies, then they’re zombies. Dig?
